What this is and when you need it
This guide covers signing in to DirectAdmin, bookmarking a reliable login path, changing your panel password while logged in, and what to do if you are locked out. Use it when SSO fails, you forgot the panel password, or you need to rotate credentials after staff changes.
Prerequisites
- Client area access at https://client.3l3vatehosting.co.za, or
- Your DirectAdmin username and the panel URL from your welcome email (hostname on port 2222)
- Access to the email address on the hosting account (for reset messages)
Recommended login method (client area SSO)
- Open https://client.3l3vatehosting.co.za and sign in with your client area email and password.
- Click Services / My Services.
- Open your hosting package (Active).
- Click Login to DirectAdmin (or Hosting Control Panel / SSO Login).
- Confirm a new tab opens into DirectAdmin Evolution without asking for the panel password.

Expected result: DirectAdmin home loads signed in. You can use Search or the left menu immediately.
This avoids typing the panel password daily and keeps access tied to your billed client account.
Bookmarking DirectAdmin safely
- Bookmark https://client.3l3vatehosting.co.za (best daily entry point).
- Optionally, after SSO, note the server hostname from the browser address bar or welcome email for emergencies.
- Alternative direct bookmark:
https://YOUR-SERVER-HOSTNAME:2222— copy the exact hostname from the welcome email; do not guess it. - Do not bookmark long one-time SSO URLs that include tokens — they expire.

Change your DirectAdmin password (while logged in)
- Open DirectAdmin via the client area SSO path above.
- In Evolution, click your profile / person icon (top-right) or open User Settings from the menu / Search (
settingsorpassword). - Open Password / Change Password.
- Fill the form fields carefully:
| Field | What to enter |
|---|---|
| Current password | Existing DirectAdmin password (if asked). If you only ever used SSO, check your welcome email or password manager. |
| New password | Long passphrase (12+ characters), unique to DirectAdmin |
| Confirm password | Same new password |
- Click Save / Change Password.
- Update your password manager entry for DirectAdmin immediately.

Expected result: A success message appears. The next direct (non-SSO) login at :2222 uses the new password. Client area SSO should still work.
If you forgot the DirectAdmin password
Option A — still have client area access (preferred)
- Log in at https://client.3l3vatehosting.co.za.
- Open the hosting service → Login to DirectAdmin.
- Once inside, change the DirectAdmin password using the steps above so you know the new value.
Option B — reset from the DirectAdmin login page
- Open
https://YOUR-SERVER-HOSTNAME:2222from the welcome email. - On the login screen, click Forgot password / Lost password if shown.
- Enter the DirectAdmin username (not necessarily your client area email).
- Check the account contact mailbox for the reset link or temporary instructions.
- Set a new password, then store it securely.

Option C — contact 3l3vate Hosting
If neither path works, WhatsApp +27 66 222 1346 or email info@3l3vatehosting.co.za from the email address on the account. We verify ownership before resetting access.
After a password change — checklist
- Update password managers and any notes shared with a trusted webmaster.
- If FTP accounts used the same password by habit, update FileZilla site manager entries separately (FTP users are often distinct).
- If you use email clients with the main account credentials (uncommon), update those too — usually mailboxes have their own passwords.
- Consider enabling two-factor authentication if available on your account (see our security tips article).
Security tips
- Use a unique password for DirectAdmin and a different one for the client area.
- Do not share the main DirectAdmin login in WhatsApp groups or shared Google Docs.
- Prefer limited FTP or email accounts for staff instead of the main panel login.
- Sign out on shared office PCs when finished.
If something goes wrong
“Invalid password” after I changed it. Wait about a minute; confirm Caps Lock is off; try an incognito window; paste carefully from the password manager (no trailing space).
SSO works but hostname:2222 does not. You may be on the wrong hostname, or temporary IP blocks after failed attempts. Use the client area meanwhile and contact support if direct login stays blocked.
Forgot password email never arrives. Check spam; confirm the contact email on the account; use Option A (SSO) or WhatsApp +27 66 222 1346.
I changed the password but FTP stopped working. Update or recreate FTP account passwords in FTP Management — they do not always follow the panel password.
